Frequently Asked Questions!

-What size do I need?
A: The Garden Dome comes in two sizes: Two foot diameter and three foot tall or three foot diameter and three foot tall. Measure your plants diameter (distance across the center of the plant) and the average height of the plant and order appropriately.

-Is the Garden Dome safe for my plant?
A: Absolutely.  The garden dome allows sunlight and rain in so the plant continues to produce its own food until it’s time for the plant to go dormant for the winter

-Is it washable?
A: Yes it is washable in cold water but be sure to put it back over the frame to dry.

-Why is it white?
A: To allow sunlight to get to the plant.  This is important for the plant to produce food.  White also prevents the plant from getting too warm in the early spring.  The white cover will also blend in with the snow during the winter for a more pleasing look to your yard.

-Does it come in other colors?
A: Not at this time but we will be offering camouflage covers soon for those plants that don’t see snow.  Check back to our website soon or contact us if you are interested in these.

-When should I remove the Garden Dome in the spring?
A: This depends on what kind of plant you are covering. If your plant is sensitive to frost, then leave it on until night time temperatures are above freezing. If your plant is more hearty, then remove it sooner. Be sure to give your plant a big drink of water to help it come out of dormancy.

-When should I cover my shrubs or plants?
A: When the night time temperatures dip below freezing and before the ground freezes.

-Can I use the Garden Dome year after year?
A: Absolutely. The Garden Dome is designed to be used for many years.  If it wears out, replacement parts will be available for you to purchase.

-Will this blow off my plants?
A: If the frame is properly pushed into the ground and the cover is staked down, it can withstand wind gusts up to 60 mph.

-Do I need to water my plant while they are under the Garden Dome?
A: No, the canvas will allow enough precipitation to get through to your plant.  However, if you are experiencing drought conditions then consider watering the plant.

-Which plants should I consider covering?
A: All plants will benefit from the protection of the Garden Dome, however you don’t need to cover all your plants.  You should cover Roses, Azaleas, Rhododendrons, and Hydrangeas if you live in the Northern areas of the U.S. and any plant that is not native to your growth zone.  To learn more about your growth zone go here:  http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html

-Does the Garden Dome protect the plant from freezing?
A: If you follow the intructions in the box for protecting Roses, you can provide proper protection for your plants using the Garden Dome.
